The problem

Trial software is a decade behind the work.

Trial and arbitration software has not kept pace with the matters it serves. Bundles that open instantly on a laptop are still loaded over coffee breaks in the room. Search is literal and shallow. Artificial intelligence, where it exists at all, is grafted on as a chat panel after the fact, and it invents as readily as it informs.

Cerulean was rebuilt around three convictions. That the product must be fast enough to disappear. That finding the right passage should sit at the heart of the product, not be bolted on to one side. And that nothing should ever appear on the screen that is not grounded in the evidence and one click from its source.

Loose A4 pages drifting in soft silver light, shallow depth of field.

The product

Six capabilities. One instrument.

  1. Document review & bundles

A three-zone reading workspace, tree, page and rail, built for full hearing days and bundles that run to tens of thousands of documents.

  2. Cerulean Intelligence

Ask the bundle in plain English and get a paragraph-grounded answer with full citations into the source. No hallucinations, no chatbot.

  3. Evidence presentation

Push pages, paragraphs or excerpts to the tribunal in a single keystroke. The chrome disappears and the document stands.

  4. Live transcripts

Real-time transcripts threaded into the bundle, so a witness line jumps to the exhibit on screen and back without breaking flow.

  5. Shared itineraries

Reading itineraries stay private to counsel or open into the tribunal's common record, with permissioning that is fine-grained and clerk-friendly.

  6. Confidentiality by default

UK-hosted, single-tenant per matter, with no training on client data ever and an audit trail for every action on every document.

The engine

A retrieval engine, not a chatbot.

Cerulean Intelligence is a frontier-class retrieval engine, a retrieval-augmented system designed into the foundations and built for privileged legal material. Every answer is grounded in a citation. Every citation is one click from the source. Nothing is generated without a paragraph to point at.

01

In-bundle by default

Answers are built from the documents in the matter. Outside material is flagged as out-of-bundle and held apart from the record, never silently mixed in.

02

Zero hallucinations

No claim is rendered without a paragraph to point at. Where the evidence is silent or contested, Cerulean says so rather than filling the gap.

03

Instantly verifiable

Each citation is a live link into the source page and paragraph. One click opens the document with the passage highlighted, ready to put to a witness.

The hearing room

Then the lights go down.

When the hearing turns to the evidence, presentation mode takes over. Push a page to the tribunal in a single keystroke: the chrome falls away and the document stands alone on the screen in front of the room. Everyone is looking at the same paragraph, called by its serial, the moment counsel names it.

Fixing Completion Date

If, on receiving a notice and particulars under clause 2.24, the Employer is of the opinion that any of the events identified is a Relevant Event and that completion is likely to be delayed thereby, then the Employer shall give an extension of time by fixing such later date as the Completion Date as he then estimates to be fair and reasonable.

38 Edge regions

Delivered over a global content delivery network. Millisecond response, wherever counsel sits.

Integrations

Where counsel already works.

Microsoft Word

Draft submissions and pleadings in Word with Cerulean's grounded answers to hand. Cited passages carry their source reference straight into the document.

SharePoint

Assemble and sync bundles directly from SharePoint. Permissions and version history are respected end to end, so the bundle in the room matches the record on the firm's system.

NetDocuments

Connect a matter workspace and pull documents into a Cerulean bundle with their metadata intact. Nothing leaves your governed environment without a trace.

Single sign-on across every integration Connectors provisioned per matter

The team

Built by the people it was built for.

Cerulean is the work of two practising lawyers: not technologists with a law degree, not consultants who watched a hearing once. The product is the tool they wished existed.

“We built the instrument we could not find at the Bar: one that respects the document, the room, and the weight of the work.”
Peter Brogden, co-founder of Cerulean.

Trust

Security you can prove.

Cerulean is designed from the ground up for confidentiality, with the controls a tribunal and a magic-circle compliance team expect to see, and the quietness a hearing room demands.

SEC·01

Single-tenant per matter

Each matter is isolated in its own tenant. Nothing crosses the boundary, not even at the index layer.

SEC·02

No training on client data

Documents are never used to train models (ours or anyone else's) and answers are never retained. This is contractual, not a setting.

SEC·03

Encrypted in transit & at rest

Strong encryption throughout, with strict role-based access controls and a Zero Trust architecture: every request verified, limited and logged.

SEC·04

UK-hosted, region-locked

Hosted in UK data centres and region-locked on request, so privileged material never leaves the jurisdiction you choose.

SEC·05

SSO & access control

SAML single sign-on, granular permissions and IP allow-listing: the enterprise controls a firm's IT team expects as standard.

SEC·06

Audit trail, every action

Every open, search, push and annotation is logged with cryptographic integrity. Exportable in full for the tribunal.
